Hi, I'm Sasha, a junior at Red Bank Regional High School in New Jersey, and a classical piano major in the school's Visual & Performing Arts Academy.
In addition to playing piano and guitar, writing and performing my own original music, playing competitive tennis, and studying business, I have a passion for helping spread education and opportunity to other students who share my interests, but may not have the means to pursue them.
This passion led me to launch a non-profit music education program called Play It Forward, which enlists trained musicians to pass along the gift of music education to underserved children. Over the past three years, Play It Forward has expanded from teaching piano to middle-schoolers in Red Bank, NJ to awarding scholarships to an esteemed music academy in Asbury Park, NJ to now operating a music program at a small private school across the world in Zambia, where students are now learning piano, guitar, singing and songwriting.
I co-founded Bridge To Business with Tyler Deng with the same goal in mind. Tyler and I wanted to create and grow an organization that would spread education to students who wanted to learn about business and make contacts in certain fields, but who may not have had the opportunity. We want to ensure that everyone has the ability to pursue their passion.
In our sessions, we invite successful Wharton alumni to share their personal and professional stories and talk about what they’ve learned about being in the business world. Our hope is that these speakers will inspire a new generation to pursue a career in one of the many industries they’ll learn about over the course of the program, and that all of our fellow students will feel that they can reach their dreams, regardless of their backgrounds.
